Introduction

Once there was a large kingdom named D'Hoonnib, full of a variety of people, cultures, and dangers. It held six provinces.

An island to the north of the mainland, lay the province of Sakurn, ruled by King Oroku Saki. This province is known for it's manufacturing in weaponry and supplies. Also it is known for it's natural beauty, due to the island being almost completely covered in cherry blossom trees, and rich culture. King Saki had only one heir, a daughter named Karai.

On the mainland, to the northeast, lay the province of Fandreen, ruled by King Kirby O'Neil. This land is rich with forests and manufactures textiles for most of the kingdom. King Kirby was married to Queen Veronica, who passed away just three months ago. Since the death of his wife, King Kirby has grown ill and become extremely depressed. The only heir is Princess April, who now cares for her father as the province slips into debt.

An island to the east of the mainland, is the province Syralia, ruled by King Tod and Queen Vixen Vulpes. They are known for their fishing and education. Many colleges have been set up in Syralia and they have the best education in schooling and magic throughout all of D'Hoonnib. King Todd and Queen Vixen had seven children: Renyard, who mysteriously disappeared at age 13; Apolex, who was banished at age 18 for helping kidnap her older brother; Warrah, who died at birth; Semien, who died at age 4; twins Blanford, who ran away to Tumlit at age 17 to go and find Apolex, and Cozumel, who was banished at age 18 for attempted murder; and last Aila, the last heir to the throne.

The province Camrithia lies on the far west side of the mainlands and is ruled by King Brad and Queen Mae Johnston. Mining and masonry is Camrithia's expertise due to the many mountains. Camrithia is also unfortunately known for the large percentage of the population being thieves, smugglers, gypsies, and mercenaries. King Brad and Queen Mae for many years tried and tried to have just one child. Then, they were blessed with a daughter they named Mona Lisa.

Ruled by King Hugh Langinstein, is the province Ounum which is between Camrithia and Fandreen. Known for agriculture and livestock, this land is covered in fields and farms. Emperor Yoshi and King Hugh are at odds. King Hugh, the son of the last king and queen who are now deceased, visited the neighboring kingdom Tumlit, just off the coast of Camrithia. While there, he publicly embarrassed King Edmund and then slept with King Edmund's wife Queen Isabel. King Edmund wants to declare war on Ounum, therefore declaring war on D'Hoonnib. King Hugh has one younger sister and the only next heir, Princess Irma Langinstein.

In the center of the entire mainland is the province of WhiteDawn, also known as the Capitol. Emperor Hamato Yoshi rules WhiteDawn and the entire kingdom. WhiteDawn is simply a trading hub and is known for it's politics and large population. Emperor Hamato Yoshi was married to Empress Tang Shen, who was ruthlessly murdered by a man dressed in silver armor by the name of The Shredder and his army. Empress Tang Shen did give birth to one son before her death, his name Prince Hamato Akiyoshi of D'Hoonnib. During the battle that ensued after Empress Tang Shen's death, Emperor Yoshi fought along side a rat man named Splinter. Although they could not catch the coward that took the Empress's life, Emperor Yoshi had made a powerful friendship. And still today their friendship remains stronger than ever.

After the battle, when Splinter left the palace to return to his home in the northwest, near the border of Ounum and WhiteDawn, he happened to glance down an alleyway. In the alleyway was four turtle humanoids, backed up into a corner. Splinter hesitated and glanced at each of them. One was taller than the rest, his skin had a tinge of brown to it, and his eyes a soft mahogany. The next tallest was a deeper green with an almost blue hue and deep blue eyes. The second shortest was a grassy green skin that contrasted with his bright green eyes. The shortest and youngest, he guessed by the way the rest stood between him and their attacker, had light green skin, a freckled face, and bright, playful blue eyes.

“Just grab the brats! We can't have the next shipment of slaves be late again!” a large humanoid rhinoceros growled at his humanoid warthog partner.

The humanoid warthog snorted, “Well I don't see you helping me out Rocksteady!”

“Shut it Bebop! I'm not losing a spot in the Guild of Thieves cause you couldn't snag a few brats!” Rocksteady snapped.

Bebop grabbed the turtle with green eyes while Rocksteady grabbed the tallest turtle. Bebop yelp as the turtle he grabbed bit his hand then punched him in the face. Rocksteady struggled as the tallest turtle thrashed in his grip.

Splinter considered walking away, but he knew he couldn't just let these poor children try to defend for themselves.

“That's it!” Rocksteady yelled. He smashed the tallest turtles face into a building then let the turtle crumple to the ground.

The green eyed turtle stood tall in front of Rocksteady, “You're gonna regret that!” His voice squeaked slightly as the darker turtle joined his side and the light green turtle ran to the hurt turtles side.

Rocksteady huffed, “Don't make me laugh little brat!” He lunged for the darker turtle but the green eyed turtle intercepted and took the blow.

“Raph!” the darker turtle cried out in fear.

Rocksteady gripped the turtle called Raph. The darker turtle ran up to Rocksteady and kicked him in the knee, but Rocksteady only kicked the turtle in the stomach. The rest of the turtles were shoved into a sack by Bebop, “Come on! Throw that kid in the sack!”

Rocksteady pressed Raph to the wall, “I will, after I teach this brat a lesson!” Rocksteady began beating into the small turtle. Bebop started to laugh when he was punched in the jaw. He fell to the ground and dropped the sack of turtles. They all peeked out to see a tall rat man.

“Let him go!” Splinter yelled menacingly.

Rocksteady stopped hitting the turtle, his knuckles bloody. “Ha! And what are you going to do about it rat?”

Splinters eyes narrowed as he ran forward and began to strike the humanoid rhinoceros without stopping. Rocksteady fell to the ground next to Bebop. Splinter towered over them, “Leave! I have spared your lives for now! And do not let me catch you again, or else.”

Bebop and Rocksteady ran through the alley to the streets and disappeared. Splinter kneeled down next to Raph. Splinter looked over his limp body, noting there was now a crack at the top left of his plastron and his knees were badly hurt. There was a tug on his robes, he glanced behind him to see the light green turtle staring at him with pleading eyes, “Help my brothers....please.”

Splinter felt his heart melt, “I will do my best, little one.” He patted him on the head and noticed the darker turtle holding the tallest turtles head in his lap.

The darker turtle looked to him, “He's ok...I think.....”

Splinter began to wrap up some of the wounds on Raph, “What are you names?”

The lighter turtle spoke up, “I'm Michelangelo.”

“Leonardo,” the darker turtle whispered, “This is Donatello and the turtle you're helping is Raphael.”

Splinter finished wrapping up Raphael's wounds, “We need to get him help.” Splinter took Raphael and Donatello in his arms when he noticed Donatello now had a gap in between his front teeth. Splinter looked to Leonardo and Michelangelo, “Come with me.”

Splinter returned to the palace and explained what had happened. The four young turtles were given medical attention, food, and a place to sleep. Splinter stayed as well, slightly worn from the days events.

Emperor Yoshi sat next to Splinter, who was sitting in a type or parlor room next to where the turtles were staying, “Well my friend, you truly are amazing. You saved these four children.”

Splinter smiled at his friend, “I couldn't standby while those ruthless mutants harmed these innocent children.”

Emperor Yoshi smiled back and gripped his shoulder, “You did well Splinter-san. And as for the children, I believe I will be sending them to the nearest orphanage.”

Splinter looked at him, “Where are their parents?”

Emperor Yoshi looked at him sadly, “According to Leonardo, they used to live in the far northern region of Fandreen.”

“But that's almost a three days walk?” Splinter commented shocked.

Emperor Yoshi nodded, “Yes I know. Leonardo said that their mother died shortly after they were born and their father a few days after that. They barley survived working in the textile factories and lumber camps, but left after hearing of better work here in WhiteDawn. With what money they'd all saved they traveled here only to be attacked by those smugglers.”

Splinter's heart sank as he thought of all their hardships, “Isn't the orphanage almost full?”

Emperor Yoshi sighed, “Yes it is...I have plans to build another one but it's still almost two weeks away from starting construction.”

Splinter felt his heart swell as an idea came to him, “I could take them.”

Emperor Yoshi studied him, “Splinter-san, you don't have to do that.”

Splinter sipped his tea, “I know I don't have too Emperor Yoshi.”

“I've already told you Splinter-san. You can call me Yoshi-san,” Emperor Yoshi smiled. “And you may take them, if you wish. I'll give you until morning to decided.”

Splinter sat for hours considering taking these children home with him. He'd never had anyone in his life; no wife or children, the last of his family had died years ago. Could I really take them in? Would it be better?

“E-excuse me,” he heard a little voice behind him.

Splinter glanced behind him to see Leonardo and Michelangelo, “Yes?”

Michelangelo hid behind Leonardo who took his hand, “Michelangelo had a nightmare...and he was wondering if you could tuck him in?”

Splinter couldn't stop the smile that spread across his lips, “Yes, yes I can.”

Michelangelo smiled as Splinter took his other hand and they walked back together.
ok so this is the beginning of the story that was inspired from another story i wrote called Would He Listen? it takes place in an AU and this is just an introduction about the land, people, kings, queens, princesses, blah, blah, blah! and how Splinter found and saved the turtles.

i drew up a map of the actual land and such but i'm not sure if i'll post it because while i was drawing it i discovered how back i suck at drawing maps XD also a lot of this was inspired by anything TMNT (of course!), Skyrim (cuz it's awesome!), and one of my favorite book series called the Angelaeon Circle by Karyn Henley

anyways this is also for kmiller104864 Dhalya-amarilla and DajahBoo9 for helping inspire me to actually write this. if you have any questions ask! and comment and tell me what you think! :)
