TMNT 2012 Ch. 1 The New Girl

Chapter 1: The New Girl

This was an amazing opportunity for her. The brunette could hardly hide her excitement, everything was finally getting better. It had been three weeks since she accepted the internship with Professor Falco, it seemed like she was going to keep it. She gathered her school materials and headed to the New York City community college. She entered the building and headed up the three flights of stairs to Professor Vincent Falco's office. She pressed the buttons to the pin pad and opened the door when the light flashed green.

“A few minutes early, always punctual,” Falco said with a smile.

“Thank you, again, Professor for this great opportunity. It really means a lot to me,” she said smiling.

“Well you're not just any regular girl. You are just as smart as a graduate student and you're only a sophomore in high school. You really have potential, your parents would be so proud,” Falco said turning around and walking over to a door.

The girls face fell, “Yeah, I guess they would be.”

“On a better note,” Falco said using a code to open the door, “Let's begin with some observing.”

The brunette stood and walked into the next room; it was full of reptiles. Falco pointed to the opposite side of the room as he opened a cabinet. She reluctantly walked over and looked at the specimens. This side of the room held lizards, she couldn't tell exactly what kind but they were green with yellow stomachs.

“So what exactly are we going to do?” she asked looking at a row of lizards.

“Well first I would like you to hold out your arm,” Falco said behind her.

She stood and looked around curiously. Her eyes narrowed when she turned to see him holding a vial of some glowing substance in one hand and in the other was a large lizard like the ones behind her.

“Um Professor...” she began when he threw the lizard at her. She screamed and held up her arms. The lizard clung to her arms and retreated over her head, scratching all up her arms. Once the lizard was off her she glared at Falco yelling, “What the hell?!”

Falco cackled and threw the vial of ooze at her. She covered her face again, the ooze splattering on her arms. Screams filled the air as pain shot its way through her body.

Master Splinter watched as his sons trained. He felt a slight tweak in his senses, knowing something was coming...whether is was good or bad he couldn't place. Arguing from Raph and Leo snapped him back to the scene in front of him. The two were at it again, fighting over who was better. “Enough!”

The four turtles looked at their master. “That is enough for today.” Splinter turned around and went into his room.
The boys exited into the front room. Donnie sat down browsing on his laptop and Mikey picked up a random comic book that was left on the floor. Leo sat down to watch Space Heroes when he noticed Raph was looking for Spike.

“Can't find your little turtle huh Raph?” Leo said teasing. Raph just turned and glared at him. “Looks like your just as good as taking care of him as you are at your form.”

Raph growled at him, “Seriously?!” He pulled out a throwing star and threw it at the on/off button on the TV.

“Hey!” Leo yelled standing up.

“Raph really?!” Donnie complained. “That's gonna be the third time this week I’m going to have to fix that!”

“Then tell our fearless leader to keep his mouth shut!” Raph yelled glaring at Leo.

“Dudes chill!”Mikey said stepping between Raph and Leo. “Raph what's up? You've been really grumpy lately.”

“Nothing,” said Raph flatly. He turned and headed into the sewers ignoring Mikey and Donnie calling after him.

When he came to the nearest ladder that led to the surface he decided to head top side. Soon he was running across the rooftops, the cool evening air flying past him. After awhile of running around he stopped to see where he was at. The scene around him was slightly unfamiliar. In front of him was the  community college Donnie always talked about. He wracked his brains trying to remember where that was by.

“I think its by Houston isn't it?” Raph wondered aloud when his thought were interrupted by a scream. He knelt down and looked closely at some vans that were parked in front of the college. They looked a lot like the one's the Kraang used. The doors burst open and he saw the Kraang trying to carry a girl into the back of a van. She was putting up a good fight, but not quite good enough. He knew what he needed to do.

Raph leaped off the building onto the fire escape then to the ground. He was across the street from the college and the Kraang saw him.

“The Turtles!” They yelled and open fired on Raph.

Raphael went for the gunmen first, taking them out with ease. Then he attacked the two droids holding the girl, once they were gone he looked down at her. His eyes widened when he realized she was green and had a tail.

“Wha-What's going on? Why am I green?!” she asked disoriented and scared.

Raph was about to answer when more droids came out of the college. There wasn't time to talk, he picked her up bride style and ran for the nearest sewer entry. He shifted her behind him with one arm and with the other removed the man hole cover. He let her down through the man hole gently setting her down. Then he jumped in after her and pulled the cover back over the hole. Once in the sewers he picked the mutant girl up again and ran deeper into the sewers. When he felt like they were far enough from the Kraang, Raph stopped and looked back down at the girl in his arms. She was a lizard for sure but she still had long brown hair and fiery orange eyes.

“Are you ok?” he asked setting her down gently but keeping an arm around her waist to steady her.

“Yeah, I think so,” she said trying to stand. Her legs were wobbly, she swayed forward and Raph caught her and pulled her toward him. “What happened? Why do I have a tail?” Tears welled in her eyes.

“Hey its ok,” Raph said softly. “I'm guessing you were human before you were mutated?”

“Yeah. Professor Falco, he threw a lizard at me. Then this greenish blue glowing stuff and it burned so bad,” she said placing both hands on Raph's plastron, he blushed slightly.

“Wait,” he said the blush gone, “Falco? There is no way.”

“Professor Vincent Falco?” she said looking at him funny.

“Oh, Vincent Falco, not Victor?” Raph asked guiding her to sit down.

She followed and replied, “Victor Falco has been missing for three months now. Vincent Falco is his younger brother I think.”

“Yeah I know,” Raph said looking away nervously.

“Who are you? What are you?”

“I'm Raphael, but you can call me Raph. And I’m also a mutant, but I started out as a turtle.”

“Oh, I’m Mona.”

Raph stood and smiled down at her. Now that he was above her he got a better look at her. She was actually really pretty. Her brown hair was slightly curly and reached below her collar bone. Compared to April she was stronger and slightly bigger than her, but not in a fat kind of way but a curvy way. Raph felt himself blushing again and asked, “So why were you at the college?”

“Well I was supposed to be getting an internship, and I thought I did have it,” Mona said sadly.

“Well I’m sure there are other professors that can help college students with internships,” Raph said looking around to figure out where he was.

“Oh I’m not a college student, I’m only a sophomore in high school.”

“Ah I see,” Raph leaned down again and helped her up. “I'm gonna take you to my place. It's safe there.”

“Where at?”
“It's an abandoned subway station. I promise it's safe.” Raph looked into her eyes and she smiled. “Do you want me to carry you?”

“No I can walk. But I might need a little help,” she replied sheepishly.

Raph smiled, took her left arm, and slung it over his shoulders. Then he took his right arm and wrapped it around her waist, practically carrying her. Once she was comfortable, they started walking back to the lair.

“So,” Raph started wanting to keep up a conversation. “Do you know April O'Neil?”

“Yeah I think so. She's a red head right? Her dad was missing for awhile, and now he's back?” Mona said turning and facing him.

“Yeah, she's really good friends with me and my family,” Raph commented trying not to smile like an idiot.

“Are you ok? Am I too hard to carry?” she said her eyes looking concerned slightly.

Raph blushed realizing he must have looked so stupid, “No, no I work out so I can carry heavy things.....I mean I’m not trying to say that you're heavy I’m just saying I can carry you. Not that I wouldn't be able to, but I know I can because your pretty skinny. And not that I was really looking but um yeah.” Raph's blush deepened with every sentenced he said and finally shut his mouth before he said something else really stupid.

Mona only giggled and said, “Did those weird robots make you really nervous or something?”

He smiled brightly realizing that she was teasing him. She laughed and Raph laughed with her. Soon they were to the lair. When Raph entered he could hear his brothers and April in the kitchen. He decided to go straight to Master Splinter and to get his brothers later. Raph and Mona walked past the kitchen and walked up the stairs to the dojo.

“Hey Raph where have you...oh,” Mikey said emerging from the kitchen. Raph looked back at him with concern in his eyes and walked into the dojo.

“Mikey what's Raph doing?” Leo asked Mikey.

“Raph has a mutant lizard girl,” Mikey explained to the others.

“Master Splinter,” Raph said kinda loud. Splinter slid open his door and looked at Mona.

“What happened?” Splinter asked Raph. He explained what happened while the other turtles and April gathered around to hear the story. By now Mona was standing on her own with out almost falling over. “Well, welcome to our home Miss Mona. I am Raphael's father and sensei Splinter. These other turtles are his brothers Leonardo, Donatello, and Michelangelo. And this is our human friend April O'Neil.”

“Thank you, and its nice to meet all of you,” Mona said slowly. She was still really weak and exhausted from everything that had happened.

“April, could you please help her to the couch? And Michelangelo could you get her a blanket?” Splinter asked politely.

“Sure thing!” Mikey yelled excited.

April lead Mona to the couch in the main room with Splinter following them. Raph turned to leave when Donnie and Leo stood in his way.

“You like her don't you?” Leo teased  pointing at Raph.

“It's obvious dude,” Donnie said folding his arms across his plastron. “And boy do I feel bad for you.”

“Why?” Raph growled pushing through his two brothers. He started down the stairs when he heard Mona laugh. He looked over to see Mikey talking to her.

“Because she is so not interested,” Donnie said popping up next to Raph. “It so sad-orable.”

“Really?” Raph said glaring at Donnie.

“It's true Raph. Besides she's almost two years older than you, you're just a little friend to her,” Leo said popping up on the other side of Raph.

Raph felt his heart sink to his feet as Mona sat closely next to Mikey.

“Welcome to our world,” Leo and Donnie said in unison.
